Federal award of honour for the Mönchengladbach brewery

The Mönchengladbach brewery, the OeTTINGER brewery’s subsidiary plant in Mönchengladbach, has now been presented with the Federal Award of Honour by the Federal Ministry for Food and Agriculture (BMEL). This is the highest honour that a brewery can be awarded for its quality services. The award-winning company had achieved one of the best overall results in the German Agricultural Society’s (DLG) Quality Test for beer. 160 breweries took part in this long-established quality demonstration this year. The award was presented at the 2015 Brewers’ Day on 11 June in Berlin. DLG President Carl-Albrecht Bartmer presented the medals and certificates together with Federal Minister Christian Schmidt.

The prize is awarded for the best overall performance in the latest DLG Quality Test for beer. A total of 18 breweries from the different German federal states were awarded prizes. The breweries’ beers has to pass exhaustive experts’ tests in the laboratory and using sensor equipment.

“The quality of our local beers reflects our outstanding professional skills. The holders of the Federal Award of Honour personify a culture of connoisseurship and the incomparable systematic aspiration for quality. They set benchmark standards and can thus rightly be called ambassadors of gourmet quality products,” emphasised DLG President Carl-Albrecht Bartmer at the award ceremony in Berlin.
