Political visit to OeTTINGER site in Gotha

Jakob von Weizsäcker (SPD), Member of the European Parliament, together with SPD Member of the Bundestag Carsten Schneider, were both guests today at the Thuringia site of the OeTTINGER Brewery. He was accompanied by State Council candidate Onno Eckert (SPD) and Philipp Kästner and Peter Leisner from Gotha District SPD. On a tour through Production and around the premises, Managing Director Dr. Andreas Boettger and Operations Manager Florian Fahr informed the politicians about the brewing process, quality standards and bottling. Jakob von Weizsäcker was also interested in the history of OeTTINGER Brauerei GmbH and developments at the Gotha site.

In recent decades, the OeTTINGER Brewery has successfully invested in the Thuringia site. The results of this investment are efficient and modern facilities, a broad-based product range and growing export business. With some two billion bottles and cans bottled every year, the OeTTINGER Group is Germany’s largest beer brewing company. The family-owned company, which has its headquarters in the royal city of Oettingen in the Bavarian Swabia region and employs 1,050 people, can be traced back to the year 1731. In addition to Oettingen, with one of Europe’s most modern production plants, the company also has brewing operations at three further sites strategically located throughout Germany: Braunschweig, Gotha and Mönchengladbach.

The Kollmar family bought the brewery in Gotha in 1991 and has modernized it in recent years and grown it into an important site for the company. Employing some 250 people, OeTTINGER is one of the largest employers in the region.
