Where do the water and hops that we use for our Original OeTTINGER products come from?
We brew our beers using water sourced from the local regions where our brewery sites are located. The water is extra purified before use and is softened if required. Our high quality hop extract is sourced from the famous Bavarian Hallertau and can be stored in large quantities, so that just the right amount can be selected in order to achieve the perfect flavor.
How is our non-alcoholic beer produced?
Our Original OeTTINGER Alkoholfrei is a slightly bitter draft beer produced via a process of interrupted fermentation. This creates a minimal amount of alcohol of <0.5% abv.
How non-alcoholic is non-alcoholic beer really?
During the production of alcohol-free beer, alcohol is formed in small volumes. The legal limit is 0.5% abv. From a nutritional-physiological point of view, there is no cause for concern over undesired effects here. There are a number of foodstuffs with a similarly high alcohol content such as fruit juices, kefir and ripe bananas. If you wish to purchase a drink with zero alcohol content, you should look for the label “no alcohol” – this applies to products with 0.0% abv.
How high is the alcohol content of the Original OeTTINGER Fassbrause range?
Our Fassbrause drinks are completely alcohol-free with an alcohol content of 0.0%.
How high is the alcohol content of our malt beer?
The manufacturing process of our Original OeTTINGER Malz produces minimal quantities of alcohol; these are usually less than 0.1% abv. The value of <0.5% abv displayed on the label is the legal limit.
How high is the fructose and sorbitol content in OeTTINGER beverages?
No fructose is detectable in pure beers that are completely fermented. These include drinks such as our Pils, Export, Helles, light/dark Hefeweizen, Kristallweizen, Kellerbier and Altbier variants, in addition to our low-alcohol beers.
Beer-mix drinks such as Radler and alcohol-free beers contain fructose:
Average fructose content – Examples:
- Original OeTTINGER Malz 29g per liter
- Original OeTTINGER Hefeweizen alcohol-free <2g per liter (trace)
- Original OeTTINGER Radler 14g per liter
- Original OeTTINGER Beer & Cola MIXED 16g per liter
- Original OeTTINGER Radler alcohol-free 15.9g per liter
- Original OeTTINGER Weizen & Zitrone alcohol-free 14 per liter
- Original OeTTINGER Radler naturally cloudy 22g per liter
Fructose content of non-alcoholic soft drinks:
Average fructose content – Examples:
- Original OeTTINGER Fassbrause Mango 16,4 g per liter
- Original OeTTINGER Fassbraus Zitrone 15,4 g per liter
- Glorietta Zitrone 27g per liter
- Glorietta Orange 26g per liter
- Glorietta Apfel-Kirsch 39g per liter
Beer contains low traces of naturally occurring sorbitol. The literature values for these are <50mg per liter.
No sorbitol is used in the production of our non-alcoholic soft drinks.
There is currently no information available on possible naturally occurring sorbitol in our lemonades.
Do OeTTINGER products contain GM organisms?
No, all OeTTINGER beers, beer-mix drinks and non-alcoholic soft drinks are GMO-free. In addition, all OeTTINGER beers are tested according to the more extensive “GMO-free” certification.
Are OeTTINGER beers gluten-free?
No. All beers are made from grains containing grains (wheat, barley).
How high is the histamine content?
In principle, all food and drink products with an undergone fermentation or ripening processes probably contain low levels of histamines. As there is no routine analysis of histamine quantities at the brewery, we can only provide the literature values from research: The histamine content of bottom-fermented beers such as Helles, Pils and Export range mostly between 29-150µg per liter.
What does hops extract mean?
Hop extract is a product made exclusively from pure natural hops, whereby the dried hop cones are treated with potable alcohol or liquid CO2. With that, the hop bitters and aromatic essential hop oils contained within the hops are released. Thereafter, the extract is completely separated again, leaving pure hop extract remaining.
In using hops extract for our beer, we apply a quality measure that guarantees that every variety of OeTTINGER beer is manufactured with the same sensory characteristics and the same quality at all times.
Natural hops would be incredibly voluminous and do not keep for very long outside of cold storage. Hop extract contains only the ingredients needed for beer production (without the hop leaves or stalks), is easy to pack in storage containers and easy to dose. In terms of quality, hop extract is completely the same as natural hops.
What is locust bean gum?
Locust bean gum is taken from the seed of the fruit of the locust bean tree. The carob fruit is crushed and the small seeds are separated, dried and finely ground.
In drinks, locust bean gum stabilizes the clouding.
How high is the purine content in OeTTINGER beers?
In beer, purines are present in low volumes of approximately 80-150mg per liter.
Wheat beers contain approximately 30% less purine than bottom-fermented full beers (e.g. Pils or Export).
Light beers also contain approximately 30% less purine than comparable full beers.
Non-alcoholic beers contain at least as much purine as comparable alcoholic beers.
As this highly specialized analysis is not part of the routine analysis in a brewery, we are only able to offer literature values:
Bottom-fermented beers such as our Helles, Pils and Export contain approximately 150mg per liter.
Bottom-fermented light beers/non-alcoholic draft beers contain about 110-120mg per liter.
Wheat beers such as our dark/light Hefeweizen contain approximately 90mg per liter.

The Original OeTTINGER beer variant with the lowest purine content is therefore our Leichte Weiße.
Are OeTTINGER products vegan?
No animal products are used when we brew our beers and beer-mix drinks. These OeTTINGER products are suitable for vegans.
Original OeTTINGER Glorietta A-C-E, Orange and Fassbrause Mango are not suitable for vegans (gelatin is used as a carrier for provitamin A/carotene); the same applies for Glorietta apple-cherry.
The Glorietta Cola, Cola-Mix, Iso-Sport and Zitrone variants are suitable for vegans as well as our Original OeTTINGER OeTeas and our Fassbrause drinks Zitrone, Himbeer Minze and Melone Grapefruit.
However, a non-vegan adhesive is used for the labels on some of the reusable bottles.
Can celiacs drink OeTTINGER products?
The Original OeTTINGER beers, beer-mix drinks and Fassbrause drinks contain gluten and are not suitable for celiacs.
All Original OeTTINGER Glorietta varieties, Cola-Mix and OeTea are gluten-free.

The bottles don’t always continue to look as they once did, but we take a practical view on this and have given the scuff marks on well-used glass bottles the affectionate name “sustainability rings”!

All used crown corks and screw caps that we receive are collected and sent off for recycling.

ADVERTISING AND SPONSORSHIP
Does OeTTINGER provide advertising material?
Due to the quantity of such requests, we decided some time ago to hand out advertising material for specific reasons and within the local area. We prefer to invest in the quality of our drinks and in order to maintain our affordable prices. However, a wide selection of OeTTINGER merchandise can be ordered from our merchandise store.
Does OeTTINGER provide product samples?
Due to high packaging costs and associated shipping costs, as a rule, we do not send product samples.

Does OeTTINGER send badges, labels, beer mats, stickers or crown corks to collectors?
Unfortunately, demand is exceeding our organizational capabilities and therefore we are unable to respond to requests for collectors’ items.
